What is Galungan?
Galungan marks the time when ancestral spirits return to earth to be honored through prayers and offerings. Streets are decorated with tall bamboo poles known as penjor, symbolizing prosperity. Families across the island gather at temples in traditional dress to celebrate this spiritual occasion.
What is Kuningan?
Ten days after Galungan, Kuningan takes place, signaling the return of the spirits to the heavens. Special offerings, including yellow rice, are prepared, and prayers are held in temples to give thanks and close the festive period.
