What you should know before traveling to Bali

To ensure a smooth and seamless arrival, please find below some essential information regarding visas, customs, and other arrival details:

Visa Requirements:

ASEAN nationalities receive a free tourist visa upon arrival in Bali, valid for up to 30 days. Cost of the Visa on Arrival for other passport holders is IDR 500,000 per tourist. You may apply for your eVOA online [1] if you wish to use the autogates.

Travellers can also pay for a Visa On Arrival in Bali. More information can be found here [2]. However, please check with the Indonesian embassy or consulate in your country to confirm specific visa requirements for your group members if in doubt.

Customs Declaration:

When you arrive at Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar Airport), you will need to complete and submit a customs declaration form. Please ensure that all members of your group fill out this form accurately and honestly. You may also fill the form online in advance, using the e-Customs Declaration form [3].

Tourism Levy:

Please be informed that all visitors to Bali are required to pay a tourism levy upon arrival to Ngurah Rai International Airport. The levy is fairly new (since February 2024) and the amount is IDR 150,000 per person and is payable in cash upon arrival, it is also payable online [4] in advance. This levy contributes to the preservation and enhancement of Bali’s tourism infrastructure and environmental sustainability efforts.

Airport Transfer:

Upon arrival, our dedicated staff will be waiting to greet you at the airport in the arrival hall and assist with your transfer to The Amala. If you haven’t already provided us with your flight details, please do so at your earliest convenience, so we can arrange for a smooth pickup.

Currency exchange:

Currency exchange: Payments in Indonesia when made in cash must be made in Indonesian Rupiah. Our front office team will be of assistance for currency exchanges needed. Please note that Indonesia has daily variying bank rates.

Other requirements:

Please check your passport and ensure you have more than 6 months validity from the date you enter Bali. Check you have a return or onwards ticket.
